Scars come in all shapes and sizes, many of which we can ignore, however, those that are highly visible, for instance on the face, neck, stomach and hands, can be a constant cause of embarrassment, making one feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.
A scar can be defined as a mark left behind from a healed wound. Burns, acne, injury, accidents, or an operation, can all cause scars. The scars can be raised, depressed or stretched. They can be single or multiple. Some scars can cause pain, however, treatment otherwise would be to improve the aesthetics.
At Wentworth Clinic we offer a range of scar removal procedures that can greatly reduce, and in many cases almost entirely remove unsightly scars and blemishes.
Conditions we can treat:
- Acne scarring
- Burns
- Previous illness, such as chicken pox scarring
- Previous injury
- Surgery
- Skin grafting
Skin regeneration treatments
Our skin care team use a combination of skin regeneration procedures to reduce the appearance of scars. During your initial consultation, you will discuss your concerns about the scars with the Consultant. They will assess the type of scar and the site, and then advise you of the different treatment options available to you. We will then create a personalised treatment plan once the full facts are understood.
Sometimes chronic scars as a result of acne may require other treatments simultaneously, these may include:
- Laser therapy to reduce colour, redness
- Laser resurfacing for deeper scars – removing the top layers of skin, stimulating collagen production, replacing dead skin cells
- Dermal filler for deep scars, plumping up and smoothing the area
- Hydrodermabrasion to promote skin regeneration
